Government
The City of Pine City is a Statutory City. This means that the City is governed by Minnesota Statutes Chapter 412. Pine City is a weak-mayor-council form of government where administrative and legislative authority is the responsibility of the Council. Pine City residents are represented by the Mayor and four City Council Members. The Mayor serves two year terms and Council Members serve four year ‘at-large’ staggered terms. The Mayor and each Council Member have one vote each. City elections are held in even-numbered years during the general election in November.
The City Administrator is accountable to the Council for the effective administration of City business in accordance with Council decisions. The City Administrator oversees the day-to-day administrative duties.
