Before you Register your Dog and purchase a City Tag

Ensure your pet is current on its rabies vaccination; if your pet isn't current on its rabies vaccination make sure to get an appointment with their veterinarian as soon as possible to get it updated as a City Tag cannot legally be obtained without it.
If your dog's rabies vaccine is due to expire that means your City Tag is also going to expire on the same date.
If your dog gets an updated rabies tag number and expiration date BUT your City Tag is still in good condition (you can read the tag number) just call City Hall 320-629-2575 or email info@pinecitymn.gov with the updated information and there will be no need to purchase another tag.
If you have a City Tag that you are no longer able to read the numbers on, you can purchase a duplicate tag for $5.00.

Why Register Your Dog?

Licensed pets are 3x more likely than unlicensed pets to go home again!

2. It's the law.

The City of Pine City requires dogs to be licensed. See Chapter 5, Section 525, Animal Control of the City's Code of Ordinances for more information.

3. It ensures a dog is vaccinated against rabies.

This important vaccination keeps your pet safe & healthy.

4. A Dog License Tag is $10.00 and follows the same schedule as the rabies vaccination.

Typically it is 1 year for the first round of shots and then every 3 years afterwards.

5. Should your dog get impounded and has a City Tag you will receive a discounted impoundment fee.

We don't want to be "dog catchers" but should your pup escape your care and a resident calls us with a dog in their possession, we will pick them up. If they have a registration tag and we have current up to date information for the owner - we can call and/or email you right away!
