Primary objective of position
This is a public safety position which will promote the positive experience of those who patronize the Pine City Public Beach. This position is directly accountable to the Parks and Public Buildings Manager.
Objectives

Follows city policies

Follows safety procedures

Assures the Pine City Public Beach is in compliance with the City ordinances, and Federal and State laws at all times
-
Follows both opening and closing procedures
-
Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the buildings and grounds
-
Completes all tasks assigned to them
Responsibility for relationships
Internal
-
Daily interaction with other lifeguards and WSI staff
-
Daily contact with Parks and Public Buildings Manager
-
Occasional telephone or personal contact with members of the City Council/Mayor, and City Administrator
External
-
Frequent contact with the general public
-
Frequent contact with the public to assist in resolving complaints and concerns
-
Occasional telephone or personal contact with patrons
Supervisory authority
None
Hours
Various, includes evenings and weekend shifts
Minimum Requirements:
Required Job Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities LIFEGUARD
-
Can receive or currently holds the required Red Cross Lifeguard certification, including CPR/AED, and first aid
-
Has or can obtain a Red Cross Waterfront certification
-
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
-
Ability to handle confrontational situations with tact (public and employees)
-
Ability to positively respond to complaints and resolve problem situations with tact
-
Is flexible with scheduling to ensure proper staffing
-
Ability to work with others and act in a courteous manor with employees and patrons
- Can receive or holds the required Red Cross WSI certification
- Has or can obtain a Red Cross CPR/AED and First aid certification

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 15 years of age

Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and stoop repetitively for long periods of time

Ability to lift, carry, and handle patrons and equipment
-
Ability to see, hear and speak English
-
Ability to read and follow written instructions
(To become a Junior Lifeguard you must be 15 years of age)
Benefits:
Lifeguards starting at $15.00/hr
Junior Lifeguards $14.00/hr
